Old cars

Which outdated technology do you miss the most, and why?

Old cars because they could be fixed by me. I could fix basic issues and easily maintain the car. I did not need a garage for oil changes, putting on winter tires, body repairs with minor damage and changing spark plugs (today changing a spark plug usually means hiring a mechanic). Older cars were easier to tune and you could go to the scrape yard for batteries, tires, alternators, engine blocks, carburetors, radiators, etc and it was cheap especially if you did your own work. Doing your own repairs was very satisfying, you didn’t worry about simple breakdowns. I carried tools and parts in the trunk and I loved learning about how to do car repairs. Also it was easier to modify your car on the outside, inside and the engine, suspension, exhaust, rims etc. Today’s cars I think are extremely expensive for all aspects of usage and maintenance on purpose because greed/profit always comes first. The backyard garage is closed.
